Isabel Morison 5k Charity Fun Run

On 1st October, Sacred Heart are hosting a Community 5k Fun Run in memory of former teacher, Isabel Morison.

In collaboration with a number of other schools in the Crosby/Waterloo area, Sacred Heart are raising money for the Jack Riding Foundation, Jacob Billington Trust, CAFOD and Claire House. The run starts at 10am on Sunday, and artists from our Songwriters & Storytellers Evenings will be providing live music from 11am.

Isabel was a big inspiration for our goal as a charity. Sam, our Chair of Trustees, had the following to say on that subject.

It is a tremendous honour to be chosen as one of the nominated charities for this years Crosby Community 5k Charity Fun Run. We have been selected by Sacred Heart Catholic Academy, Great Crosby, St Edmund’s & St Thomas’ and Ursuline Primary School. The other charities in benefit of this years event are The Jack Riding Foundation, CAFOD and Claire House (links below). Jacob was a student at both Sacred Heart and Great Crosby, and for his memory to be recognised by both during this fun run is greatly appreciated. Any funds raised will go directly towards forging creative arts opportunities for young people in Sefton.
Perhaps the most poignant link for us this weekend is that the event is being held in memory of Isabel Morison. Isabel was a music teacher at Sacred Heart and taught Jacob, several of our trustees and many of his friends. Isabel was a vital part of the music department at ‘Sacey’, she helped create a vibrant, exciting and safe environment for students to practice and perform. As a multi-instrumentalist herself, she inspired hundreds of students, including Jacob, to try new instruments, join the choir, samba band or orchestra and perform at events across the UK - and further afield.

The Jacob Billington Trust, along with every student that she taught, will be forever grateful to Isabel and this Sunday 1st October will no doubt be a wonderful way to celebrate her legacy.

Entry is £5, and you can donate (even if you're not running) using the link below.

If you are planning on running (or walking) the 5k, you will also need to fill out the form below.

We hope to see as many of you there as possible on Sunday for a morning of fundraising and music!
